Desert Botanical Garden
Since moving back to Arizona, we have made it a goal of ours to really explore all that our home state has to offer. I feel like when you grow up somewhere, you really don't take advantage of your surroundings...you go to school, go to work, hang out with family, and that's about it! While living out-of-state for seven years (in NC and CA), it seemed like every weekend we were out exploring since it was all new to us. Now that we're back, we're so excited to be tourists in our own city!
The Desert Botanical Garden is one of those places that was just a short drive away from our childhood homes but we only just discovered right before we moved away. We have been wanting to visit again so we decided to take a drive over on Saturday afternoon. The garden really showcases just how beautiful the desert landscape is. I'm always in awe of how these plants can survive in this heat!
And man, was it hot (and humid!) while we were there. The girls were given a little scavenger hunt to do while we were exploring and as soon as we found all of the items on their list (and snapped a few quick photos), we were out of there, haha! On the upside, we basically had to whole place to ourselves! They have flashlight tours a couple of evenings a week, so we're looking forward to going back and checking that out when it's not so hot!
I've had this off the shoulder dress for a couple of summers now and love throwing it on on hot days. I love dresses like these that can be dressed up or down, or can even double as a swimsuit cover-up. I found a few similar and affordable options that I linked above, and also in the widget below. :) Wearing my hair down in this heat is not really an option so I pulled it up in a messy bun and tied a handkerchief scarf around it for a little splash of color.
I hope everyone has a great week! Thank you for stopping by!
